Industrialization

Minnesota’s economy boomed in the 1900’s, with the Mississippi, Minnesota, and St. Croix rivers playing a major role in the state’s industrial revolution. Flour milling and lumbering became the two major industries to utilize these rivers for power. Water power was used to grind grain, and logs were transported further south using these large waterways.
