Wetland Conservation

Wetlands are important habitats for birds in Minnesota. Many shore birds use wetlands for breeding and nesting during some or all of their life cycle. Unfortunately, wetlands are being drained for human development and agriculture. These habitats are also essential to the health of a watershed, as they filter pollutants and control the gradual release of water into streams, lakes and rivers nearby. You can help wetlands near you by creating a project that raises awareness about their importance or even attending local government meetings about potential developments in your town that could harm wetlands.
