Raise Awareness about Boat Speed
When boats travel fast, they create large waves that can be very destructive to fragile shorelines, causing the erosion or collapse of banks! This is especially true in smaller bodies of water. The sediment from these eroded banks accumulates in the water and harms the freshwater species who inhabit that shoreline, especially native mussels. Educating boat owners about the effects their boat speed can have on these organisms will help improve freshwater ecosystems around you.
