What are your personal thoughts about coexisting with wolves? <\/p>\n<p>Watch the video below to meet Cassiopeia (Cassi) Camara, PhD student with the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.warnercnr.colostate.edu\/centerforhumancarnivorecoexistence\/\">Center for Human-Carnivore Coexistence<\/a> at Colorado State University. She investigates human attitudes, beliefs and behavior related to conservation. Click on the Pre-Quest Survey link and complete the survey she created for the Quest.<\/p>\n<p>If you are taking this survey as part of a class, your teacher may have assigned your class a Wolf Pack Name, and you a Wolf Number. You will need these pieces of information for the survey to help us keep track of pre- and post-responses, while also keeping your responses anonymous. If you are not taking this survey as part of a class, come up with a made-up name you can use on your pre- and post-survey so we can match your responses. Identity can include your race, gender, age, class, culture, spiritual beliefs, and where you live. What others can you think of? Your identity affects how you perceive yourself, others, what&#8217;s around you, and what happens to you.\u00a0<\/p>\n\t\t<h3>Distinguishing Facts from Myths <\/h3>\t\t\n\t\t\t<p><b>Facts<\/b> are supported by overwhelming evidence gathered through scientific investigations. Wolves are one of the most scientifically researched animals on Earth!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b>Misperceptions<\/b> are often based on <b>myths <\/b>or misinformation, instead of facts. Perceptions are how you interpret or understand someone or something. To contribute to this research, please consider having your students complete the pre and post survey included as part of this Quest. In order for the researchers to compare responses from an individual student before and after completing the Quest, assign your class a wolf pack name and each student a number they will use for the pre AND post survey. For example, Mr: Kowalski&#8217;s 9 mile Pack, #12.\u00a0 Provide each student with the link to the survey and have them enter their pack name and individual number in the survey.<\/p>\n\n<ol>\n<li><u>Discuss <\/u>what personal experiences have influenced how you think about wolves?<\/li>\n<li><u>Option: Summarize and analyze<\/u> class pre-survey data. At the end of the online Wolf Survey you will find how to request your class&#8217; anonymous data. You could have student analysis the results of the data and look for patterns and trends in thinking about wolves and coexistence. This survey is given again post-Quest on a TEACH page.
