One project to consider taking on is converting any bare soil or asphalt you see going unused in your community to a green space, whether that is an edible garden, a perennial plant garden, a native plant garden, or even a single tree. Remember, any bare dirt or unused asphalt could be a place to revive the soil and draw that much more carbon down into the ground. Make sure you are aware of your community\u2019s laws and regulations before taking any action. Once you\u2019ve read up on what you need to do to stay within the law, go make sections of your streets and schools more soil-friendly and productive. You can even try to find a group who is doing this work already and join in with them! A bonus of this approach is that whatever soil you start building by vegetating these spaces will take up water and reduce flooding and erosion in your town or city. If there are any hills or slopes you see bare of plants, planting trees, shrubs, perennials or native plants there is even more important, since erosion is much more likely to happen there than on flat ground. <\/p>\n\t
